Welcome to our new Board Members
Part of the natural cycle is that our Board evolves and changes over time.
We were very pleased to welcome two new members to the Board late last year.
Maxine Burke has lived in the area for 30 years and has a longstanding involvement with the CFA both as a volunteer and professionally. Her background is community education and currently trains people to become industry trainers. She also operates her own training and consultancy business. Maxine is looking forward to sharing her skills and local knowledge with the community from an entirely fresh perspective.
Mark Rogers has been a resident in the area for 13 years and has been involved in Community Development most of his working life, including in the areas of aged care and disability support, and has been involved in many broader strategic projects. Mark's interests are in music and the performing arts and using these aspects for community building. Mark is very excited to be able to contribute to what he believes is UYCE's sense of community pride.

From Learner to “Class Driver” in 5 days
This program is aimed at people who have recently qualified for the Learners Permit.
In most situations, fear prevents the new driver from practising enough to gain sufficient experience. These fears include:
• Will I damage the vehicle?
• Will I understand the instructions I’m given?
• Will I have an accident?
• Can I handle difficult driving situations?
• Will I learn bad habits?
This program is aimed at taking away these fears. The Class Driver technique is characterised by smooth, safe, skilled driving actions based on sound knowledge and positive attitudes, and enables a driver to drive pro-actively in order to remain safe and react correctly in emergencies.
This program is subsidised by Upper Yarra Community Enterprise and delivered by Driver Training Academies Australia in response to a compelling statistic- the number of motor vehicle accidents involving inexperienced drivers - with the simple expectation that better training produces safer drivers and less road trauma.
Significant subsidies are offered to Warburton and Yarra Junction Community Bank account holders.
For more information, go to the Driver Education section.
